Red Knolls

Lyrics

Come on let’s go, to the places we all know
come on let’s drive, I know a place where we can hide

So here we go now
to all the people that know what I’m talkin’ bout
of all the places we could go
let’s set up, at the Red Knolls
So here we go now
to all the people that know what I’m talkin’ bout
of all the places we could go
let’s set up, at the Red Knolls
cause there’s no one around to care, at all

I know this place, where we can stare into outer space
come on let’s drive, we’ll leave the city lights behind

So here we go now
to all the people that know what I’m talkin’ bout
of all the places we could go
let’s set up, at the Red Knolls
So here we go now
to all the people that know what I’m talkin’ bout
of all the places we could go
let’s set up, at the Red Knolls
cause there’s no one around to care, at all

Gonna leave this place behind, gonna leave it all behind
gonna leave the city lights behind for good
no more lookin back in my rear view mirror
cause the scene just keeps getting clearer
in front of me, that’s all I see, that’s all I want, it’s all I’m goin for
the Red Knolls

So here we go now
to all the people that know what I’m talkin’ bout
of all the places we could go
let’s set up, at the Red Knolls
So here we go now
to all the people that know what I’m talkin’ bout
of all the places we could go
let’s set up, at the Red Knolls
cause there’s no one around to care, at all

What’s Left?

Lyrics

So many people, so many things
makin’ all, sorts of machines
& all the machines makin’ all sorts of noise
it’s no wonder, it’s gettin’ hard to enjoy
all the simple things, now we need everything
can’t get enough of anything
this life of excess, defines success
for so many, everyday

What else can we say, that hasn’t already been said
what else can we see that hasn’t already been seen
what else can we find that hasn’t already been found
what else can we do but dream

What we see is not life as it is
it’s just the life, that some choose to live
sellin’ all the things they want to be seen
’til it becomes, what we want to be
but in the end, it goes my friends
it’s just the way that things look today
tomorrow it’ll be, the next big thing
that they’re sellin’, on big tv’s

What else can we say, that hasn’t already been said
what else can we see that hasn’t already been seen
what else can we find that hasn’t already been found
what else can we do but dream

So much ahead, yet so far behind
so far so good, so long & goodbye
are just places we stop on the way
to where we’re going, you know we’ll get there someday
but let’s slow down a bit
and enjoy the trip
or who knows what we might miss
it’s about the things, that are in between
that help to make it, worth the trip

What else can we say, that hasn’t already been said
what else can we see that hasn’t already been seen
what else can we find that hasn’t already been found
what else can we do but dream

Where to Start

Lyrics

Don’t know where to start, don’t know where to begin
so I guess I’ll just jump right in and swim
hopin’ I don’t sink while I’m doing my thing
here’s to one day closer, to doin’ the things
that we know we love to do
we gotta keep keepin’ on, sometimes, that’s all we can do
& when the clouds come to block the sun
that’s when we’ll play in the rain, & know
that something better is comin’

Takin’ it one step at a time
puttin’ one foot in front of the other, now we’re doin’ alright
’cause we got what we need to live
things are tight, but there’s more to life than this
than losin’ sleep over what’s parked outside
when what’s outside means more than what’s inside
that’s when we gotta stop & thing
what is is we really wanna keep

It’s not as easy as we’d like it to be
but if it was, we wouldn’t care so much about it, see
it’s only after the fact that we appreciate
all the effort, that it takes
when in the end, we’re all the same
it’s just how you play the game
and how we see the exact same thing as
completely different states of being, I’m sayin’

Success

Quote

“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws will be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings.” – Henry David Thoreau

The Ghost of Poor Old Eilley Bowers

We’ve recently finished our latest video, The Ghost of Poor Old Eilley Bowers.  The song is about a pioneer woman from Nevada who made a fortune during the Gold Rush, then slowly began losing everything, starting with her family.  She eventually became a “seer”, or a fortune teller, and supposedly still haunts the mansion that she and her husband built.  Thanks for taking a moment to watch our video!

Fatherhood & a Compass…

“As a dad, I’m often lost, and I stumble more than I would like to admit. But what if it’s as simple as slowing down to look at our compass and make sure that a few degrees off doesn’t turn into miles apart.”

This is a great message.  I often feel lost both as a father and as a son.  I often find myself flailing and failing at what I want to do the best at.  Sometimes I feel myself withdraw, as my own father did, and have to consciously put forth the effort to not withdraw.  I withdraw out of my own feelings of inadequacy, not out of anything my own sons have said or done. I think we have to remember though, that everybody experiences things in their own way, and our experiences are often self-centric. My withdrawal may lead to one of my own sons having a different experience, one that I never imagined.

Let’s examine our own compasses, examine where we’re at, and where we want to be.  If we need to correct our course, then let’s get back to where we started, and do things just a little differently.  Just a few degrees over a long distance can result in many miles.

Where to Start – The EP!

Where To StartOur new EP titled “Where to Start – The EP” is ready for your ears!

It’s not always easy to pursue your passion. There are so many people that are going to tell you, that do tell you, and probably are telling you that your passion is not worth pursuing. We have responsibilities, and when those responsibilities affect somebody else’s life, they want their priorities to become your priorities, and your responsibility.

Pursuing your passion means that you’re taking time out of your life, that you’re putting in the extra effort required to be true to yourself, while still taking care of all those other responsibilities in your life that still need attention.

This EP represents a part of the work that we have put in to make our passions become a reality.  Between writing, practicing, performing, and recording, it takes time and effort to make this type of project happen.

The drums were recorded in a studio; but the guitars, vocals, and percussion were all recorded in a bedroom. We wanted to make this happen, so we found a way to make it happen.

We’re sharing this with the world, because it’s a project that we care about.  We hope you like it too.

Thanks for listening!
