About

Jearbear is a 3 piece band, hailing from Mesa, AZ.  The name, Jearbear, is the lead singer & guitarist’s nickname.  People close to Jarred have always called him “Jearbear”.  On one particular trip with his family, he was discussing band names with his wife.  She jokingly said, “Why not name the band Jearbear?”  They talked about how they would get a kick out of somebody introducing the band, “Here’s Jearbear”, and the name stuck.

The group consists of Jarred Truschke, lead singer & guitarist; Reilly Price, vocals & bass; Bertrand (Bert) Coppee, drums & percussion.  Jarred comes to Mesa by way of Willcox, AZ.  Reilly comes to Mesa by way of St. Johns, AZ.  Bertrand (Bert) comes to Mesa by way of Charleville-Mézières, France.

Jarred has always enjoyed writing music.  Once he had his first son, he realized that he would need to keep the volume down when he played at home since his son was sleeping.  That’s when he dusted off his acoustic guitar, and completely fell in love with it.  Influences for Jarred’s songwriting and music include hip-hop acts such as A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, and Pete Rock & CL Smooth; Jack Johnson; Mat McHugh (The Beautiful Girls); and G.Love & The Special Sauce.  Reilly has always enjoyed playing jazzier bass tunes, and one of his main influences is Victor Wooten.  Bert’s influences include Neil Peart and Mike Portnoy. The fusion of these influences is what gives Jearbear its sound.
